North London Print & Design Sector Network:

We are charged with leading the formation of a Print & Design Sector Network in North London's four boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest. Linx Associates will be seeing 120 businesses by the end of 2007 and working with the British Print Industries Federation (BPIF), Vision in Print, British Association of Print and Communication (BAPC) and a range of relevant partners to help North London's largest business sector - comprising of over 500 companies. Chris Sleeman, Linx Associate's Business Development Manager, is leading on this for us.

We have already formed a business-led Steering Group and will be helping to draw up training plans and introduce funded specialists to help 120 businesses, in whatever areas they require business support or training for.

This project is funded by North London Learning Skills Council and EU Objective 3 funding, with a business support project budget from Objective 2 - secured by Enfield Arts Partnership and the Creative Skills North Project.

Employer Awareness Tours:

Linx Associates has successfully run five Industrial Estate Tours for Jobcentre Plus in Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge boroughs  The tours enabled 62 of their Advisers to see the local employer 'landscape' (focused on Industrial Estates). We also introduced them to local manufacturers, for a tour of their factories and to have a two-way conversation about employment problems and opportunities. We are planning more of these visits in other parts of London and are developing similar tours for the same advisors, concentrating on employers in the Leisure Sector. Please CLICK HERE to download a (PDF) copy of the tour invitation letter which contains some further information on the tours.

We are able to set up and run similar half-day exercises with other
Public Sector Organisations such as Local Authorities.

Business Support Supermarket:

Linx Associates have also worked with JobCentre Plus on an initiative to run a 'Business Support Supermarket', so that businesses can come and find out about what publicly funded support is available to them, set out with Partners’ stands in themed groups – as you would find products in a Supermarket. This work is ongoing, together with the associated development of a) A Business Support Directory for Partners to use as referral guides when out seeing businesses and b) A “Matrix” or grid, of this coordinated support, as a reference guide for businesses and Partners alike. This is being Piloted in Waltham Forest, and can be rolled out, by us, to other Boroughs or areas.

Linx plan to hold training/awareness workshops for delivery partners, to enable them to make best use of the 'Matrix' and make the right referrals when they are with businesses.
